The Sounds of Silence of 9/11

The “Sounds of Silence” by Paul Simon sung on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The Sounds of Silence were anything but silent

On that fretful day of 9/11/2001 it was anything but silent.  As planes hit the towers, people screamed with fear as they ran for their lives. The sounds of silence was not to be heard.

The people only heard the sounds of glass shattering and the sounds of metal crushing but not to be heard were the sounds of silence.  For those who were blessed enough to escape the buildings heard the crumbling sounds of the twin towers falling like thunder on their heads but missing were the sounds of silence.

When the smoke cleared and the debris settled, people were left with the sounds of grief and the sounds of cries for missing loved ones and once again there were no sounds of silence.

As time goes by and we acknowledge this day as a day of remembrance images remain etched in our minds  never to be forgotten now within the sounds of silence.

GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY AND ALL WHO LOST THEIR LIVES THEN AND NOW AS 9/11 continues ….
